Imo Digital Economy Commissioner Rewards Top Performers in MyImoApp User Content Competition as Foreign Investors Witness Colourful Event

The competition, which formed part of ongoing efforts by the ministry to deepen public engagement with the MyImoApp platform, required participants to order products or access electronic government services through the application, and thereafter record and share their experiences on their respective social media pages. Entries were assessed on the quality of content produced and the level of engagement generated online, with the best performing submissions in both categories emerging as the overall winners of the competition.

At the end of the exercise, the first place winner received one hundred and fifty thousand naira, the second place winner received one hundred thousand naira, while the third place winner was awarded fifty thousand naira, bringing the total prize sum to three hundred thousand naira. In addition, every participant who took part in the competition, regardless of ranking, received a consolatory prize of five thousand naira each, in recognition of their participation and contribution to the visibility of the platform.

The event was described as a lively and colourful occasion, with an excited crowd of participants and onlookers cheering enthusiastically as winners stepped forward to receive their prizes. The atmosphere reflected the broader enthusiasm that has continued to characterise youth engagement with digital economy initiatives introduced by the state government under Governor Hope Uzodimma's administration.

Presenting the prizes, Dr Amadi commended the participants for their creativity and the quality of content produced, noting that the competition was designed to encourage grassroots adoption of the MyImoApp platform while showcasing its practical utility to a wider audience through authentic, user generated experiences. He said the initiative aligned with the ministry's broader strategy of deploying interactive and incentive driven engagement to build public awareness and trust in homegrown digital solutions developed under the SkillUpImo ecosystem.

The presence of visiting foreign investors and officials of Imo Digital City Limited at the event was seen as a demonstration of growing international interest in the state's digital economy programmes, with the occasion offering an opportunity for investors to witness firsthand the level of grassroots engagement and technical capacity being built through the state's flagship digital initiatives. Dignitaries at the event were said to have expressed satisfaction with the enthusiasm displayed by participants and the evident traction the MyImoApp platform continues to gain among residents.

The MyImoApp, developed by young Imolites trained within the state's digital skills ecosystem, has continued to expand its range of citizen focused services since its introduction, with functionalities including access to land documentation, tax payment, emergency reporting and food ordering, positioning the platform as both an administrative and lifestyle tool for residents of the state. Officials of the ministry have repeatedly cited the application as a practical outcome of the SkillUpImo initiative, which has trained tens of thousands of young people across the state in various digital disciplines.

Dr Amadi used the occasion to reaffirm the state government's commitment to building an inclusive digital economy that rewards both excellence and participation, stating that the consolatory prizes extended to all participants reflected the administration's recognition that meaningful engagement deserved acknowledgement, regardless of final ranking. He added that the ministry would continue to explore creative engagement strategies capable of sustaining public interest in the state's digital transformation programmes while showcasing the achievements of the initiative to both local and international audiences.

The event drew a cross section of young residents who have benefited from the SkillUpImo programme, further reinforcing the state government's positioning of Imo State as a reference point for subnational digital transformation in Nigeria, anchored on the conversion of digital skills training into practical, citizen facing technology solutions built, deployed and celebrated by local talent.
